Refunds and returns
Giving money back for some items or all of them.
Open the order and press Refund.
- Items to refund. Set Quantity to refund per item. You refund items, not a free amount: each unit's share of its line, after discounts, goes back.
- Restock refunded items. On by default, so the stock returns to the batch it came from. Switch it off for something broken.
- Paid through Stripe or Mollie: the money goes back through them, to the method the buyer used.
- Paid another way: say under How does the money go back? whether it was cash, card terminal or bank transfer, and hand it back yourself.
What follows
- A credit note, numbered in the same series as your invoices. The buyer gets it with the refund mail, and the bookkeeping inbox under Settings, Invoicing gets a copy.
- A partial refund keeps the order Paid, shown as partly refunded. Once everything is back it is Refunded.
- Points the order earned are taken back in proportion. Points the buyer spent on it come back in proportion.
- A coupon used on the order stays counted as used.
Refunds made at Stripe or Mollie
A refund made in your Stripe or Mollie dashboard is picked up by itself: the order gets its credit note and the buyer the mail. The stock only comes back when you refund here.
